Will Nickent Golf Kick Ass In 2008?

March 10th, 2008 · 2 Comments

To be honest with you… up until won the recent Nationwide “Moonah Classic” Tournament I’d never given Nickent Golf equipment more than a passing glance.

I haven’t even hit a Nickent club… yet.

But I’m now very keen to give a few of their new 2008 clubs a run.

And I’m wondering how many other golfers, who’ve never really considered Nickent equipment before, will be taking a close look at them in 2008!

To me, it appears they’re gathering momentum… and are positioning themselves as a company to strongly consider next time you go golf shopping.

I particularly like the look of two of their new sets of irons:

Basically, both irons are aimed at more consistent golfers…

The 4DX PRO model designed to appeal to a player who wants a smaller, less offset, forged players iron and the 4DX CB to appeal to a player who likes a slightly larger (but not as large as a ”Big Mumma”) cavity iron, with a little more offset, yet still a reasonably thin topline.

Personally, I think I’d love both sets… maybe even a combo set.

Their star tour player is Jeff Quinney… I believe he plays a number of their woods and hybrids, but he’s been playing Ping I5 irons.

Apparently, the 4DX CB irons are designed to appeal more to his taste.

I don’t know about you, but in my thinking, if I was putting someone up as the face of a golf company, I’d at the very least want them to be playing the companies irons.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens there.

I also love their look of their woods, hybrids, wedges and dare I say it even the new slightly modified Pipe Putters.

The originals just looked plain cheap and tacky… although only slightly different, I actually like the look of the 2008 version.

I know Sean over at “Deep Rough” has test driven and reviewed a number of their woods and hybrids, here’s the link to some pics he took of the clubs and his thoughts on them:  Deep Rough Reviews Of Nickent Clubs

Apart from the great looking clubs they’re bringing on board, the company appears to be entrepreneurial driven and fresh!

Personally, I think Nickent Golf will be kicking a little butt in 2008, both on and off the course… time will tell.

Any thoughts or experiences with Nickent, please share!

Cheers

I am definitely interested in having a look at those new 4DX irons as well. I am still loving the 4DX hybrids, and on a good day, the 4DX driver is tough to beat!

Being the well connected man that you are Sean, I’m relying on you to get your hands on a set of both and let me know what you think.

Clubs are usually released in Australia a few months after they hit the stores in the US, so I’ll have to get in touch with the Australian distributor to track down where I can get demo them.

Be interesting to compare them with our Mizuno MP 57’s.
