Out of all the swing speed tools I have at home… I have to say my most used is my “Swing Speed Radar“.
I actually have the one with tempo timer.
To swing fast, you’ve got to know what fast is and what it feels like.
Â
To do this you’ve got to have a tool that tells you how fast you’re swinging.
You could always fork out a few grand for a launch monitor, like a Zelocity or Flight Scope… but for most that’s out of the question. Even renting time on one could quickly burn a hole in your pocket.
If you grab a swing speed radar of your own for a few bucks, you can use it where and when you want.Â
They’re a pretty solid construction as well, so it will be good for years.
It’s simple to use… it can measure your swing speed in mph or kph. It can also be used to measure ball speed (accurate for certain launch conditions). It also has a setting for tempo time (time for start back to impact).
I mainly use mine measuring to measure my swing speed. Once in a while I’ll use the tempo timer setting. It’s interesting to have an experiment with different tempo’s to find out what gives you the highest swing speed.
Having said that, this setting is a little temperamental and sensitive (could be describing a woman). I know Sean from DeepRough.com had a similar experience. If you do a little waggle in this mode, it sets the thing off and you’ve got to wait for it to clear.
Apart from that, it’s excellent and in my books it’s an essential tool to add to your swing speed arsenal.
Definitley a thumbs up from me.
I did hear from John Novosel Jr over at TourTempo.com that when you swing over 140mph, it’s not as accurate as a high quality launch monitor… but up to that speed and all is good.
Now get out there and swing fast
Sean Cassidy
ps - remember, whatever is measured improves! If you’re going to increase your swing speed you’ve got to know how fast you’re swinging and what fast feels like.

i like the ss radar too, i have the blue version.
the ss radar is really accurate in my book on ss, trying to measure ballspeed with this device only works if you hit the ball really low.
once in every 50 balls it does give some strange readings
if this happens more often check the batteries as they need to be full of juice for it to be accurate
