Swing Speed Injuries

December 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Anytime you’re trying to increase speed, be it running speed, bat speed in baseball or your swing speed in golf… you’re increasing your chances of suffering an injury.

Now, if you’re smart about it, you can pretty much avoid most “Swing Speed Injuries”.

To increase your swing speed, at some point in time, you have to expose your body to some high intensity activities.

If you’re not challenging your body, there’s no way it will improve.

However, if you push yourself too much early on, or you don’t listen to your body, you may end up having to stop playing or training for some time… ask me how I know this.

When I first got interested in increasing my own swing speed I went flat out and got all excited because I was get super results very quickly.  My swing speed jumped, and my handicap came down a couple of strokes.  In all my excitement, I ignored the little pain in my elbow.

After a few more weeks of pushing on, the pain wasn’t so little!

I struggled on for a few months trying to play, but eventually with every shot, my would scream out… all because I pushed it too much and didn’t listen to my body.

It got to the point where I could no longer train, practice or play.

At one point I didn’t pick up a club for 2 months.  Even then, when I came back to play, I was limited to one game a week and no practice… my elbow couldn’t tolerate any more.

Stupid thing is, I should have known better.  I’d spent the best part of the previous decade working with professional athletes to help them improve their performances and stay injury free.

Don’t let your emotions get the better of you.

I’ll be sharing with you some of my own suggestions, tips and strategies to help you avoid going through a similar experience.

Back pain, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and even knee pain are all common areas that are susceptible to “ Injuries”… if you’re not smart.

How you look after your body, the training you do and the equipment you use, all effect your potential for injury… play your cards smart and you can boost your swing speed and enjoy great golf for many years to come.
